Trip to Dandeli -- was an dating with Nature

As usual its my/our itch to plan something for weekend. Since our gangmates being busy in work and were preparing for the big one -Himalayan trek, the weekend plans were not thought of. But its my promise in the first quarter of the year to my Joida friends and my own goal of the year to complete rafting, finally drove me to plan Dandeli trip. As I was chatting with Sudarshan, he mentioned about my Dandeli visit and with no other thought just confirmed him that i and 4 other friends will be in Dandeli that weekend. And he being a resort owner, started planning things where in I was still in search of those 4 other guys. Aakash was there for the trip by default and it was tough time to find other 3 guys with 2 days left in hand.

Atlast train was booked for 5 people myself, Aakash, Naveen, Jimmy and srinidhi for friday night to Hubli and Sudarshan finalised the plan from Hubli onwards.
Got down in Hubli at 5 45am and it was an Omni which was booked to take us to Dandeli. When we reached and finished breakfast in Dandeli it was 8am. And we had an hour of waiting time to start our next journey in Jeep along with Sharath.

The time when we got into the Jeep, it was start of our Dandeli trip and Sharath was guide indeed. It was planned and conveyed to us from Sudarshan to finish the Rafting  once we come to dandeli and accordingly the Jeep headed to wards Rafting point. Since the rafting on that day was delayed by an hour Sharath took us to a view point, where we can see Supa dam and also a small bridge on Kali river.

After some photo clicks, its our time to get excited when we started entering details to begin our Rafting. The Rafting here is done when water is left from Supa dam for power generation. And hence its agreement or MOU between Forest department and Supa Hydel Power Project people, such that in a day the water will be left once in morning (10 or 11 am ) and again in evening around 3pm. A proper worked out plan, double earning for government.

And we were all set to start our rafting and formed in to groups at around 11 30am. Around 8 rafts started their voyage and around 50 people on board. We got our helmets and life jackets tightened, raft pedals being collected and our Raft lead Navshed allocated our Raft positions, then it was pushed in to the Raft path. Our lead had an nice English accent and was quite experienced. We had a nice practice session with some instruction practice "Forward, Backward, Down, Up, Stop" , each with different pedalling manners. And then it was session to get used to Life jacket by getting in to the 80feet water. The chill of water was good enough to spend more time. Its the time when the non swimmers (me, aakash and srinidhi) tried our best with Life Jackets. Sri swam away from raft with jimmy and suddenly got scared to scare us. When Sri started to jump on other guys (me and naveen), it was me who was much more scared.

And finally our Lead called us to board raft and to start our ride. All the 7-8 rafts will start moving together, just to be helpfull in emergency. Ours was the 2nd in line and with in some power strokes we came near the first and big rapid, its at the same time when our lead mentioned that a photographer will take pics near that Rapid. Being the first rapid it was excitement and its the photographers presence which made us to give nice poses. Our raft was stuck for a while after crossing the First rapid and our lead managed to bring it back on track. After this there was a calm stream for long time and I thought of taking pics in my camera. But its the time I realised that when I got in to water my camera was also swimming with me and it was so wet that for next three days it was still bleeding with water.

The Rafting was for 9kms and it was combination of calm stream, followed by a nice rapid. We used to scream and shout when we are in Rapid and other time we used to chat with our lead Navashed. He gave the history of how the Rafting entered India, the guy who is behind this and how the politics could spoil this adventure sport also. Finally when we reached the time to get down, Sharath and our Jeep was waiting to pick us up.

Once in jeep, it was the trip towards our Homestay. We had a big purchase of snacks and drinks, as the home stay has no access for these things. With a journey for morethan a 45 mins, with humpy dumpy ride we reached a farm where our jeep stopped. Its a walk of 200mts in that farm to finally reach our Home Stay - Green Valley.

The walk through the Farm itself took us to excitement and the first sight of the Home stay was impressive, it was of our taste. A nice dining place in the middle of Farm, a house/kitchen close to it, a Man made waterfall at yards distance and the cottages at a viewable distance. And we were astonished when they told the water from a neat by hill had been bought in pipes although 2kms and the same pipe was erected to some 20 feet to make it fall like falls. When its required, water falls will be stopped and the same water is used to run a dynamo to generate the required power. Ideas at its best and it was amidst the wild nature. Then we had an tummy overflowing lunch with those local special items.

After this lunch we started to get into our cottages, it is at this time another major exciting and astonishment was to see the way in which Bamboo was used. It was the Homestay of Bamboo, where the requirement was made to use Bamboo and all possible ways. From the soap box in an bathroom, a holder for focus lamp, an tea table, to an whole cottage even with a bamboo basement, we were last in the real woods for those days. Please find the link to see how bamboo was used to its extreme.

After relaxing for an hour or so in our cottages, Sharath told us that we will go out for sight seeing. First to see an dead Tusker near to our Homestay and other one is Cinthery Rocks.
It was an bumpy ride for 20mins, we were near a farm where a big Tusker was dead. It was electric shock/short which killed this living mamoths. The neglegence of KPTCL guys lead to a fallen pole carrying Hightension cables. This pole fell on to the solar fencing on the farm and making this low volt Solar fence and High tension cable. And the unfateful Tusker tried crossing this Fence and reached its end. Being Wildlife enthusiasists Sharath and me were watchful at the sight and tried to get the details of the cause.

With a disturbed mind, we headed towards Cinthery Rocks. Its an huge Monolithic rock, with Kaneri river forming nice carving infront of it. Its a downward walk on around 100steps to reach the spot and beside these steps samples of different Rock/Stones have been placed. With the tourism responsiblity being given to locals, the place has been kept at its best.
The serenity at the place with gustling sound of water stream, made it a perfect place to relax and it was the rocky bed on which you can lay your back.

After spending almost an hour at the place we were back on our track to reach the homestay, with darkness getting wild in that wilderness. On our way back, we again stopped at the Tuskers death spot to spot the Mindless peoples hopeless ideas/ways to get that massive Dead creature out of that farm land.

By around 7pm, when the light was almost invisible we got down near homestay and started straying through that farm to reach the centre of homestay. And Sudarshan was already at the place to meet us and it was the same time when Sharath started home. With a chuck of Moon looking bright in the sky, the farm land around that Bamboo paradise provided a nice place to start our chatting. We five, Sudarshan and owner Ajith, were soon in our bamboo chairs around the firecamp to start a warm chit chatting session. With pakodas and Tea helped us in recharing a bit, but looked meagre when our chatting session went for around 4 hours starting from elephants death, forests around to the state, national politics and finally on the current lifestyle. Its during this time, I tried to showoff my little knowledge about star gazing. After that a heavy dinner, followed by an long sleeping session in those bamboo cottages, with cold breeze trying its best to wake us up.

It was assured/planned by Sudarshan to give us an exciting trek on Sunday morning, so he waked us up at around 8am and hurried us to get ready to vacate the homestay and to start our trek. Me and Naveen were keen to know our surroundings and it was Sudarshan who showed us the plants of Elachi, Cocoa and the tree which Elephants fond of. And then I started showing off again with my Binocs by starting Bird watching around the cottage. The Manmade natural waterfalls in that homestay was an excitement not to be miss and so me and Naveen decided to dare the chill to take bath in that falls. Finally everyone except Aakash, had nice bath along with massage under that falls.

After a stumpous breakfast, we finally vacated the homestay to board Bolero camper to reach the base of Teralli Gudda. This is now the highest point in Dakshina kannada district and its with in protected area. With permission being arranged by Sudarshan, we travelled kms through forest before we could reach the base. The way of ride was full of humps and bumps, between Sudarshan was explaining the things of my interests - conservation, forests, wildlife etc. On the way he showed us a deviating which leads to the Birth place of Kali river -Kushavali and then we reached a tribal settlement to pick our Guide "" and also to get the lunch arranged in his house by the time we come back.

Once that Tribal dude Yogesh and our guide got into that camper, the ride has become interesting, He was explaining each and every tree that comes accross and the all possible sensations that were visible on our way. He showed us Dhupam tree, Rosewood, Kadu jenu, some insects and finally with my Sharp sight we could see snake Wiper. And it was almost 11 45 when we actually started out trek. Initially the trek looked boring because of sun and the semi arid trek path. But once we got into the forest, its became a fascinating one.

It was already 11 30 by when we started our trek and by its vertue our mood was slightly drowning. And initial trek seemed to be boring Hillock but when we proceeded further, it was getting a kinda tough with steeps and slopes with thick vegetation surrounding us. There were few grassy patches on the way and Yogesh was asking us to be silent as he was keen to show us some wild life. At some point Yogesh showed us the footprints and the path which seemed like a Bison and its child just passed the way. We could see those fresh footprints on our way for some time and after that they took a path into Shola.

After a hour or so we go out of shola on to a grassy vegetation and Yogesh/Sudarshan pointed us to a bushy kind of vegetation, which Bisons fond off. Then walking further, about 100mts we started seeing our Destined peak at far. But we decided to have break and indeed decided to prepare Noodles as Yogesh said that place is close to Water stream.

Into the woods again to get close to stream, we started to put fire but ended up creating smoke. Finally Yogesh made it a proper flame and got water from stream to start our Noodles preparation. Later on my insist, me and yogesh went out to get Large leaves to have our noodles and the twigs being our Chop sticks. And what, in minutes we had Yummy noodles ready with a pleasant smoke cleansing our nostrils. Few of us went to stream to drink water and proceeded further.

After that self cooked noodles, it took us some 30mins to reach the peak of Terali Gudda but althrough the path Yogesh insisted us to keep silent. Once on the peak, Yogesh could find a herd of Wild Boars on the Grass land below the peak. When all of us assembled at the edge to get glimpse of them, they got distracted and started running into forest. But it was then, we could realise that it was huge gang of Boars with more than 40-50 of them and initially we thought those as rocks.

After spending considerable time on the peak, we decided to descend the peak and it took us an 90mins walk to reach back to the starting point where tribal settlements were there. Our lunch was arranged in Yogesh's house and it was an amazing lunch indeed. By the time we finished our lunch, it was around 4 45PM and our return bus was at 8PM. But Sudarshan still had some plans for us and it was to have a Motor boat ride in Supa Backwaters. Also he mentioned that it would be a spot to sight a nice Sunset and also if lucky we can see Hornbills as well.

So our lunch followed a another bumpy ride to reach the backwaters. It was an 45mins ride to reach the spot and by then things were ready. There was a boat, Life jackets, one guy to ride and a Can of diesel for backup.
It was nice ride on the boat, an amazing sunset, a nice walk on the island and the view of the immense backwaters. By the time we returned back into our vehicle it was 6 30Pm and another 90mins left to start our departure. Still the plans were not over and Sudarshan thought of taking us to a shop where we could get some "Natural Farming" comodities. Since shop was closed, we finally decided to return back to Dandeli to catch our bus. One last ride, with a visit to Kadumane to freshen up, a visit to Sudarshans upcoming resort and then we were back to Dandeli exactly at 7 50pm.

Pedalling and its Trail1 -- Hessarghatta Lake

As usual we thought of starting at 6 but we got up at 6 30 on 25/05/2012 and finally me and shyam thought of meeting at Diary circle by 7 30am. From Diary circle we started at 7 40am and continued along the same road till we get Lalbagh to have break. Proceeding further we reached Majestic by 8 20am. With a call to Bharath we finalised to pedal on Rajkumar road to Reach his home, which is near Modi Hospital. At around 9am we could reach Bharath's house with out sweat soaked T's and a smile of excitement.
Thanks to Bharath's mom for those delicious Akki Rotis, which was the booster for our further trail. With much of the discussion on the route to take further, our Diksuchi - Meke decide himself in subconcious about a route and started guiding us. Just to make sure the transparency, only me and Shyam would pedal this route and meke without mobike would be guiding/backing us on his Activa!!
From Modi Hospital, via the chord Road we reached Yeshwanthpur through the Aroma around Sandal soap factory. Then our trail followed below route through Sapthagiri College, Chikka banavara and further on the same Hessarghatta main road till we reach the lake bund. On this route, stretch from Chikkabanavara till the lake is really amazing with its calm and cool breeze all along.

Shyam as usual reached first and Bharath followed him on his Activa. But I was lost in my ride, got down all along to have Tender Coconuts, Cucumbers and then just at the verge of tank had Churmuri and took my own time to reach the spot. Once reached, as a routine we had fighting with Shy saying he just reaches spot with out thinking about others and he doesnot cherish the trail. But Shyam and Bharath were least bothered about my comments as they were dejected with the sight of such a large dried lake, even barred from wetness.
The blogs we read were so positive about the lake and the excitement one get when they reach here, but for us it was totally opposite. We just enjoyed cursing our plan by munching the churmuri I got. But we were overjoyed when we say few other gangs which came with the same perception what we had about lake. When we were done with our chatting and were over heated by sun, we decided to explore the Grassland which was Reputed but now in Dispute.
Just following the Tank bund we reached a point which was view point for the Check Dam and also the place had a bridge to reach the road at other side of Tank bund. This is the place where we got see another pair of cyclers, who gave inputs to have cycling on the road leading to Doddaballapur. As they told we also decided to explore that stretch towards Doddaballabur, but before starting this we went to a small shop on the road to get something we can eat. And our lunch for that day was such an amazing one, including Bun, mixture, Chips, Bananas, TenderCoconut and the concept of eating Bun with Mixture was such an interesting one which Bharath suggested.
We just travelled another 100mts, but found the shade of the tree was just enough to finish our lunch and started munching our eateries. We really cherished eating our stuff under that roadside tree with grass being our Mat and chatting being our pickel. Once done, we had a brief Photosession and this was the first of it kind for our bikes.
Going further on the same road, we understood that the stretch would be really interesting for cycling but those thick clouds moving around forced us to start back. And way back, we started discussion on our plan for next 5years, which if works out would make our lives remarkable. Also we decided to explore some more places on our way back and thought of visting Byalkere Pecock santuary though none of us knew the route.
The first thing we had in our mind on our return journey was to have a proper lunch and we started looking out for the options. Finally we got to see a hotel of its kind, which was so commited to Mushrooms that all the items in menu were Mushroom specials. We were so starved that we just started ordering these Mushroom specials though we were not crazy about them. And our lunch finally included Mushroom Soup, Ragi ball, mushroom curry lunch, mushroom Biriyani and that’s it all ducts in our body started stinking with mushroom smell. Once out of hotel we saw a shop selling fresh vegetables and I couldnot control buying those fresh leafy carrots. One way these carrots helped counter mushroom stink in our ducts.
Further on our way we got inputs from a villager to take a deviation from Hessarghatta main road to reach Dodda Byalkere, the place where we assumed Peacock santuary was present. We took deviation and proceeded on that trail passing through farms, to reach that Dodda Byalkere. But we were stuck with surprise when we realised that none in the village knows about this Peacock santuary. One guy, just mentioned showing a road that there exists a big forest area and there will be gate to our left to enter the place. With no hope on reaching our intended place, we just proceeded further in the road he shown as the same road leads to Yelahanka aswell.
Not to forget, since we are done with our lunch Bharath decided to pedal my cycle and myself to ride his activa. So it was already 10kms since he started pedalling and we were still unknown about the gate of the forest we were looking for. But finally after ride of 30mins we could see a reserve forest to our left and gate too. Few locals were busy collecting forest goods and when we enquired about the Peacocks santuary, they just mentioned that we could see peacocks in this forest also. So we decided to trespass the forest which was mentioned as Jarakabande reserve forest and the jeep trail was really scenic. Since from entering the forest, we could hear the Peacock calls and started beliveing that we are in Peacock sanctuary. The serenity in the forest and jeep tracks amid thick vegetation looked stunning. After strolling around for sometime we took a deviation into much thicker vegetation and it had a mud road. This path was amazing with its wilderness and onto our right was fenced area which look protected area for peacocks. At this same time I could see something moving around at far end and took my binocs to check it out. And yes it was an beautiful Peacock, which was just walking around in search of food. But our noise just made it to disappear into woods. With sun running to take rest, darkness at its verge peacock calls intensified and we were on our path back to home.

Out of the Forest we further continued on the Yelahanka road but with inputs from some local guy took some deviation which seems short cut to Yelahanka. On that short cut, we could reach some point in Yelahanaka but were clueless about further path. With a call to friend, got inputs to reach BEL circle and from there we joined Rajkumar Road to proceed towards our homes.
In all it was our first long Cycling Trail and became an exciting one with the search of path it included. And that was beginning of Pedalling Trails.

Finally our Bums on Saddle!!

After being busy on many other hobbies/activities till now, finally I started pedalling. It was my age long dream, in otherwords my vision - to Pedal to office. And it got realised few months back when I shifted my room, which voids me from walking and, coming in bus on highly crowded roads looked unreasonable.

With much opposition from many corners along with equal amount of backing, I decided to take an Hybrid cycle for 14K and it was exciting and fun to commute by pedalling to office. The day 1 of pedalling to office was more of an achievement than an excitement and I was so elated to show my Cycle to fellow collegues and friends. And days just rolled over in brisk way, same as the pedals of my cycle.
It was not me, the only one who took cycle but my good old chap (collegemate, room mate, collegue) who took same cycle on the very same instant. And much recently, probably after 2months of our purchase another close chap of us got the same cycle.

Its been one month since we took our Cycles and we just pedalled it to and from office. But for we the Wanderers, the itch was just intesifying to have an long ride or drive with this. Plans started on finalising places for peddaling and we cornered in on Manchanbele dam. But over the next few days nothing progressed on the trail as people were busy with things and some were sick. Finally on Friday 24-05-2012, I just started searching for an exciting cycling trail and most of the blogs mentioned about different spots on kanakapura road and Nandi hills. But few mentioned about Hessarghatta and posted a blog with mesmerizing pics of those grassland.

Since I already visited mancahnbele and being a frequent rider on Kanakapura road, insisted on visting Hessarghatta. Soon 1 out of other 3guys, Meke urf Bharath accepted this, as route to this spot was via his home (and bribed us with a breakfast!!). So it was all set to have long ride to Hessarghatta Lake and Grassland on Saturday Morning and we finalised on 3guys out of 4 as one Aakash had Viral fever. But the more commitment/itch was shown from Shyam, who was in Mysore the previous day started back to bangalore just to have the ride. And I should be rank 2 in excitement as I joined trail beside playing Badminton the previous night.

Actual Trail updates in next post!!

A typical weekend (Birding at Jakkur Lake)

Being on Deputation to Japan for 106days, had let to complete shutoff of my activities. It was already an month since I was back from Japan but still couldn't get a chance try all of my old activities. First week after my return had been to home, next week to a Trek, the next one went in Cricket and Badminton, one more went in Piligrimage to Kukke. So finally this weekend I got a chance to restart my one recent activity - Bird Watching (November 20 2011).

When this unplanned weekend was about to start, I got an chance/choice to take Interviews on Saturday. After finishing those Interviews, we had a colleagues Marriage to spend the later part of Saturday. And marriage hall looked office away from office, with many colleagues attending the Reception. After a heavy lunch and equally heavy chatting, I reached Arun's room at around 11 30Pm and he will be my accompany for birding on next day.

When the plan was to meet at hebbal junction by 6 45am, Me and Arun got up at around 6 15. So it was 6 45 when we actually started from BTM and then we realised that we dont know the shortest way to reach Hebbal from BTM. With some info from "Bangalore Routes", we started towards Majestic, further surpassed RaceCourseRoad and then finally on verge to Hebbal Junction. Then I called Harish to inform that we will be late, but we got to know that he had the same answer.

And it was that one big Flyover, after which we were at the decided meeting point, got to see the Hell Boy- Harish waiting for us. As usual, Harish had some unexciting news for us that Guru will not be joining us. More than this, none of us knew where that Jakkur lake is. Harish with some vague idea based on Guru's inputs, started leading us and it was already 7 30 by then. Surpassing GKVK, we were infornt of Jakkur Airfield but the Express way construction made it un noticeble for us. Soon we realised and went back to Jakkur Junction and took a deviation towards right, which says its way to Sampigehalli.

After that deviation, we were just following that AirField fence and then we got a Junction to confuse ourselves. With inputs from Local guy, we proceeded further to face another big junction where we took right to mess ourselves. The road we took was leading to Rachenalli Kere and not jakkur Kere. With a one last input from some guy, we headed correctly towards Jakkur Village Circle and a one last right to be on Left side of Jakkur Lake.

 http://maps.google.co.in/maps?hl=en&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=jakkur&fb=1&gl=in&hq=jakkur&hnear=0x3bae1670c9b44e6d:0xf8dfc3e8517e4fe0,Bengaluru,+Karnataka&ei=GMfTTuaJE4PKrAfakP2yBg&sa=X&oi=local_group&ct=image&ved=0CAYQtgM

Lake was a huge one, one side is the Railway track and a road on other side with Fence surrounding it. It was the checkdam of the lake to allow excess water to flow down, was entry point and looked DobhiGhat with many washing lashes. It is at this time, Guru called to inform that he will be joining us and he is the Guru for our Birding hobby.

Me, Arun, Harish took out our binocs and started walking on that Lake Trench. Curious Harish, started spotting some birds and the list includes Moore Hen, Egrets, Herons, Coots, Bushchat and few raptors. With some steps further with binocs between our eyes and lake, we could find some interesting birds on a tree at the centre of the lake. And at the same time we got to see the Guru is finally on and joined us to continue this Birding. His presence helped us to identify the birds on that tree and they include Painted storks, Pelicans, Grey Herons, coromorants and the Mid aged Brahminy Kites. Each of these were in many numbers.

We further crossed that tree and proceeded to farther end of the lake and on our way we could see the Development work on the Lakes bund (hope Bund and lake will not be scarificed for this). Also it was curious Guru who was looking for Ducks and Waders, took us further ahead. There were some Gargany, Coots, Snake Bird and some waders like Stilt, some sandpipers, still at far end there were few which could not be identified correctly.

Finally with a brief Birding at this Jakkur lake, we started back and decided to have breakfast in a village on our way back. And it was Tatte idli and Rice bath at some hotel in jakkur, which made our hungry stomachs calm down.

When we were Riding back to our destinations, Guru interrupted to mention that "can we search for Rampura Lake"? And as it was sunday none of said no. But the thing is, none of us knew where it is and how to reach there. It was a first right we took and proceeded on a long undeviated road and a sudden bifurcation in road pushed us to dilema. With some inputs from people over there and our own idea, we took a road, filled our selves with Tender coconut and started riding. We again got a big junction and we were almost on our way further, but a local guy gave us info which made us understand that we are on wrong track. Further proceeded on his inputs, we took some deviations and finally a local guy of Rampura, joined us to show our way to his village. And it was right side to the place where that villager got down was a huge mass of mud and dust, which was that huge Rampura lake. The lake was split to make a way of connectivity and hence one side of lake is no more and otherside is almost at the verge of its disappearence.

But we could see a huge number of Waders and other wet land birds, even in that about to disappear lake. Once huge lake which being bisected into 2, are still making it a hub for avian life. After that delightfull sight of birds but an heartening sight of the lake, we headed back to our homes.
And an hobbyfull day came to an end with hours left to head start an another routine week!!

To the top of "Land of Rising Sun"

Things never happen so easily for me and same was with my Visit to Japan, as it kept postponing from November 2010. But the secret behind this was unfurled when I got to know that Mt Fuji will be available for Trek only during July and August Months. Surprising consequences, just to help me finish this Trek (Even tsunami was right on time)

After a big Tug of war between me and Japan, I could finally land here in late June. With accompany of a nice group, I made myself packed up for 1month with visits to some local land marks. But the much needed spice to my visit added when one more Collegue joined us. Being an old chap of Japan, he guided us to some exciting places from Hakkejima, Fuji-Q and finally to Mt Fuji.

Mt Fuji - "The one who climbs it once is Wise and the one who tries scaling it next time is a fool"
An huge Solid Mass, claiming an height of 3876Mts above sea level, with a Pine Vegetation at its Trunk and Rugged Shoulders and Tip, Added with a Volcanic Crater at Top to make it warm if Chill goes worse. With Clouds struggling to reach till its neck and its Historical Volcanic remains giving close shave with out any Vegetation. Five lakes surrounding its base, with Air hardly finding its presence and Sun showing his Essence, this Giant looks awesome when the Snow covers it Face.

And Visitors say "Its the border between Heaven and the Earth"

With its Rough look (Terrain) driving some people Crazy to challenge it and with its sacredness making others a piligrimage.

All the above explanation would have already revealed how the Fuji-san Trek would be, and being an Crazy trekker I was eager for the same. Few weeks earlier, when we were at Fuji-Q Highland (To experience some Notorious Costers and other Rides), I was said that this is almost the base of Fuji Trek and can see Fuji-san from FujiYama (looks like Yama only). But with Clouds gaming around we could not get glimpse of it.

With all our thoughts settled on Mt Fuji trek and much went discussions on the same came to an end when we finally decided to scale it, a last weekend before its closure. And finally a crew of 8 Indians including some surprising entries, decided to pack up. Bought Headlights and cross checked Shoes which accompany us, Prepared our Backpack, and decided on the food  to be packed.

With all the preparation and in Winter attire, we finally started our Voyage on a Cloudy Saturday Noon and with multiple train shifts finally reached our FujiSan Station. With some snack and hot Potato veggies spent an waiting Time of 1hour before we boarded a Bus to reach Station 5 of Mt Fuji.

Around 7Pm in the evening, with a White haze all around we got down at MtFuji 5th Station, which was completely covered with Fog. 5th Station is the Starting Point of our trek and we were already 2200mts above Sealevel. I made a statement that "Would have been better if we could scale all 3876Mts (from station)".

We started load shedding, first with a visit to RestRoom and then with a brief session of filling tummies. With regained josh and with our high spirits, bought Sticks for Trek and started towards the Peak.

Trek starts from 5th station and leaving another 5 for us to trek. With black light around us and mist hugging , we started walking through a nearly flat terrain. With some flashes from camera and few pit stops, we reached 6th Station quite easily. But by this time already 2 ppl decided to go slow and let others continue.

And from here the actual trek started with steep and rocky terrain. It was zigzag path to scale up to next stations and hell lot of people trekking along with us. An one and only Trekking spot where I saw people in such a huge number (almost like Tirupathi Darshan Q). With Stops at every 2-3rd curve, we could reach 7th station. And with similar Pauses after 2/3 Zigzags and stops at substations with Stampings on our Trek Stick, we could finally reach 8th Station and finally crossed 8.5Station. And it was our Head lights which really helped us to bare that wild Dark.

And a little after this we realised its too much and thought of a nice break, and its the time when Sky started showing the signs of Sunrise. Searched an place to get glimpse of SunRise and ourselves settled down on a Rocky path and just rested our Backs. But the Sky didn't let me go down and got lit up with some Spectacular Colors. With those first Rays of light I could realise, we were above Clouds.

With those Rays of sun spreading on this Tall Guy, we could make out that we trekked through the Clouds whole night. And my Dream of Trekking above Clouds was matter of Past. With a long Clicking session, to capture the Sunrise to its best, turned to finish our kinda Breakfast. Still another 15% trek to finish, we seemed recharged ourselves and started to Conquer the Peak.

Only few meters above, the clouds couldn't resist from Touching/Drenching us and started Drizzling. And the fellow trekkers were so exhausted that the remaining Trek path looked like a waiting Q and people started moving in terms of inches. After a great display of patience from ourselves we could finally finish that last chuck of trek in some 2hours and finally kissed the Peak.

We were exhausted to our extremes and couldn't spare much of our patience to look around. Just made a visit to the Temple to got Seal on our TrekSticks and soon rested our backs on some space to enjoy our first chance to close our eyes. After a relishing sleep for 30mins we got kinda rebirth and thought to descend down. With a brief visit to the Wide mouth of Volcano and clicks to capture the Victory we started descending down.

By this time we realised that Fuji san is a Tough guy and we still had the whole way what we trekked to descend down. The descend was a flat slope with lose gravel and it was like hell to walk on that slope. With wear and tear of our knee caps, we started counting the path to be covered in terms of number of Zigzags.

With a spell bound slide on those slopes, we could finally reach 6.5station and from where we really cursed the trek, as we still had few kilometers to walk to reach our base camp. And by sparing last bits of our patience, we were walking towards the station 5, between this hell the Rain started pouring down. Finally the trek came to an official end when we all reached the station 5 at 2PM, where we started last night at 8PM.

With brisk bites on the Sweet and Spice Corn, we got into bus to reach Fuji-san station and then few hops of trains, we reached our Nihon Sweet Homes at around 8.30PM.

Finally realised "One who climbs Fuji once is Great, if he scales it next time he is a real fool"

It will be a tough thing to get the clear sight of the Fuji-sans Peak completely and even I was an eager bug to see that but couldn't make it. And finally it was my day to see the Peak of this Tall guy from a height of 10200mts when I was on return flight to India.
